BLUEYS (PACIFIC SAURY) – FROZEN SEA FISHING BAIT
Blueys, also known as Pacific saury, are a rich, oily fish bait with a strong natural scent trail. Their high oil content makes them an excellent choice when you want a bait putting plenty of attraction into the water.
Blueys can be fished as strips, fillets, chunks or larger section baits, making them extremely versatile for both shore and boat fishing.
Excellent for targeting rays, cod, bass, huss, conger, dogfish and other predatory and bottom-feeding sea fish.
HOW TO FISH BLUEYS
For cod and bass, cut the bluey into a good strip or fillet and fish it on a Pulley Rig or Pulley Pennel.
For rays and huss, use a larger fillet or section to create a substantial bottom bait. An Up & Over or Pulley Pennel is ideal for presenting these larger baits.
For conger and heavier boat fishing, larger sections of bluey can be fished on appropriately heavy tackle.
Blueys become relatively soft once thawed, so larger baits should be secured firmly with bait elastic. Keep the bait streamlined and always leave the hook point and gape clear.

BLUEY & SQUID COCKTAIL
Bluey and squid is an excellent combination.
Cut a strip or fillet of bluey and wrap it with a strip of squid before binding it firmly with bait elastic. The bluey provides the oil and fish scent, while the tougher squid helps hold the bait together.
It's a particularly useful larger bait for cod, rays, huss and conger.

TOP TIP: Blueys are naturally oily, so you don't need to overcomplicate the bait. A well-cut fillet secured with bait elastic can produce a powerful scent trail while still giving you a neat, effective presentation.
