WRIGGLERS SESSION PACK – SQUID & MEDIUM SANDEELS
A simple but highly effective two-bait sea-fishing session pack, combining natural medium sandeels with squid.
Sandeel is a natural prey fish for many UK sea species, while squid provides a tougher bait that can be fished alone or wrapped around the sandeel to make a stronger cocktail.
Ideal for targeting bass, cod, rays, pollack, turbot, brill and dogfish from the shore or boat.
MEDIUM SANDEELS
Medium sandeels make an excellent natural fish bait and can be fished whole, doubled up or combined with squid.
For bass, fish a whole sandeel on a Running Ledger or Pulley Rig.
For cod, a whole sandeel or sandeel-and-squid cocktail works well on a Pulley or Pulley Pennel Rig.
For rays, use a larger presentation such as two sandeels or sandeel wrapped with squid on a Pulley Pennel or Up & Over Rig.
SQUID
Squid is one of the most versatile sea-fishing baits available.
Use it as strips, larger pieces or as a wrapping bait around the sandeel. Its tougher flesh helps protect the softer fish bait and makes the finished presentation better suited to harder casting.
SANDEEL + SQUID COCKTAIL
This is the standout combination in the pack.
Lay a whole medium sandeel along the hook, add a strip of squid and secure the two together neatly with bait elastic.
The sandeel provides a natural baitfish profile, while the squid adds scent, movement and extra toughness.
It's an excellent cocktail for bass and cod, and a larger version makes a strong bait for rays and other bottom-feeding species.

Wrap a strip of squid around the sandeel, secure it lightly with bait elastic and keep the hook point and gape completely clear.
TOP TIP
Don't completely cover the sandeel with squid. Keep the finished bait long and streamlined rather than bulky.
A neat sandeel-and-squid cocktail gives you the natural shape of the sandeel with the added toughness of squid.
